BREATHING CHAPARRAL | JOURNAL

Inhaling steadily, exhaling gently into the fieriness of developing Manzanita skin and glistening like Mountain Mahogany.

UNEXPECTED

while the sun kisses my back

and light flickers on sweet orange tree leaves

with mice bitten peels spat out

creeping into the soil

teeny tiny spider descended

playing with gravity

and hanging on to a strand of fine grey hair

right in front of my left eye

i belay and gently let her down

next to me and my glasses

propped up on the table

i stop

time flies

she creeps

moving backwards

under the lenses

her distorted body

glowing with fine brown hair

big bulging spider ascended

while the sun kisses my back

and light flickers on sweet orange tree leaves

LIGHTNING

as I was working today teeny tiny spider gave into gravity

right in front of my left eye

she was gliding down

from my hair

i gently let my head down

she crawled onto the work table

in my outside studio

so it makes sense that i need to share it every now and then

she sat next to me and my glasses

at one point i stopped to see which direction she decided to head in

it ended up being to the left

after deciding to crawl under the lenses

and move around in circles

she saw me looking at her

then

we both went back to work
